Capt. Treg Renoud

I'm Capt. Treg Renoud and would like to welcome you to my website.

I hope that you find my services suit your upcoming fishing charter needs.

Please call me to book your charter 727-773-6204 or email me at capttreg@gmail.com

Group Size & Rates
I offer charters for individuals and groups up to 6 persons. For larger groups of 7 to 12 persons, a second Captain and boat can be arranged to handle the additional passengers. The boats will fish near each other so the group can interact during the charter.

My rates are based on your group size making your experience affordable for all. You have the boat to yourself and won't be sharing it with others you do not know. I do charge for non-fishing passengers but not for children under the age of 6.
Please refer to the Rates button at the top of the page for more information.

A 24' Rampage walk around with small cabin with privacy and toilet. The boat is an inboard and is powered by a Mercruiser V8 5.7 liter and is 9'10" wide with the largest. cockpit of its size. There is a bimini top for shade during the trip.
Please refer to the Boats button at the top of the page for more information.

Where You Fish
Charter offerings include either Gulf of Mexico fishing within 9 miles of shore (Florida state waters) or in Tampa Bay.

How You Fish
Primarily bottom fishing grouper, snapper, mackerel, shark and other bottom species over and around reefs, ledges, bridges and wrecks. Some times i troll or free line live bait when pelagic species are available. Bottom fishing is fun for novices and experts alike. There are a large variety of species to catch ranging in size from 1 lb. to 350 lbs. Some want to drag you into a hole while others will take off on a dead run for the horizon. There is lots of action and we move to a new spot when the bite slows.
Please refer to the Fish Pics buttons at the top of the page for more information.

Fishing Tackle
Primarily this is a light tackle fishery due to the overwhelming amounts of fish caught from 1 - 10 lbs. Using Light Tackle makes it much more fun for all and makes the bigger fish a true trophy based on the equipment used. At times when the Grouper or Sharks are in we will resort to heavier equipment to stop them from running into the reef to break you off or running for the horizon on a reel smoking run. My Light Tackle is Penn 5000 reels mounted on Ugly Stick Rods rated for 10 - 20 lbs but the reels are loaded with 30 lb line which gives you the strength to stop most fish while offering loads of fun when the fish bend the rods.

While bottom fishing we use cut bait mostly consisting of threadfin herring, sardines, squid, and cut grunts. Occasionally live bait is used.

What I Provide
The boat, fuel, fishing licenses, fishing tackle, bait, instruction, fish fileting (within reason) and years of expertise and knowledge.
A cooler can be provided at request for your food and drinks but you will need to bring a bag of ice for yourselves.

What You Should Bring
Food and drinks in a small to medium sized cooler for the trip, ice if you asked me to provide a cooler for you, polarized sun glasses, camera, hat, sunscreen, bring appropriate clothing and jackets if the weather requires it, wear clothes that you won't mind getting blood stains on and good foot protection with good traction. There is dry compartments on the boat for phones and cameras.
