Flats Fish Species Caught On Charters
Grass flats offer numerous species to target, the most popular are the Spotted Sea Trout, Redfish, Snook, Pompano, Flounder, Tarpon, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Mangrove Snapper, and Cobia.  Each require different tactics and have specific areas on that flats that they prefer. The habitats vary from mangrove shorelines, oyster beds, pot holes, drop offs, sandy shorelines and weed flat edges. It takes a experienced Captain to read the conditions of the day to seek out the best opportunities to score on these species consistently.

Less targeted species can fill in the charter with exciting fights and hard runs, new fishermen sometimes enjoy catching these species more than the popular species because they are readily available and willing to put up a good fight. If keeping fish to eat is not on your agenda and having lots of fun is then consider that any fish caught can be a pleasure if you let go of the elitism of only targeting trophy species on your charter. Each person gets different pleasure from fishing and expectations can ruin a perfectly good charter if only a trophy fish will make your day a success. Notable species that can add loads of fun to a charter are Bonnethead Shark, Blacktip Shark, Bluefish, Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel and Ladyfish.
